Nokia Lumia 1020 with 41 megapixel camera launched.



Nokia on Thursday launched new smartphone Lumia 1020 with 41 megapixel camera, saying it will strengthen the company's leadership in imaging. While unveiling the new device in New York, Nokia said its Lumia 1020 smartphone "is able to produce some of the sharpest images possible by any digital camera."

The Nokia Lumia 1020's 41 megapixel camera comes with Xenon flash for still images, LED flash for video. It has ZEISS optics' 6 physical lenses. It also has 1.2 MP front camera that can be used for making video calls.
Using a feature called dual capture, the phone 1020 simultaneously takes a high-resolution 38-megapixel image for editing opportunities, and a five-megapixel picture that is easy to share on social networks, Nokia said.
Nokia Lumia 1020 can also handle sound pressure levels six times louder than conventional smartphone microphones. 


"We want to take people on a journey from capturing pictures to recording and sharing their lives," said Stephen Elop, president and chief executive.
The phone is built on Microsoft Windows 8 platform and has 1.5 GHz dual-core processor from Qualcomm. It has 32 gigabyte internal memory, 2GB RAM, and 7GB of cloud storage that can be accessed by mobile Internet. Nokia will start selling Lumia 1020 in the US exclusively with AT&T from around July 26, at a price of USD 299.99 (₹ 17,890) on a two-year contract.


Lumia 1020 pre-orders begin July 16th, and the phone will become available online and in stores on July 26th. The Lumia 1020 will also be available globally. Earlier, Nokia launched a Pureview 808 model which had similar sensor. The phone was launched in India at ₹ 34,999. "The Lumia 1020 will bring new meaning to pictures and continues to strengthen Nokia's leadership in imaging," Nokia President and CEO Stephen Elop said.
